Two teams, playing a basketball game under NBA rules, are tied with 27 seconds left. The point guard of one just got the inbound and is alone in the backcourt. He thinks he has come up with an easy way to hold the ball for the last shot. With 22 seconds left, he hits the rim of the wrong basket to re-set the 24-second shot clock. You're the ref. Is this legal?

Two teams are playing a game under NFL rules. After scoring a touchdown, one team lines up for the extra point. But the holder, who is also the punter, can't handle the snap. He scrambles behind the line of scrimmage. Finally, he bounces the ball of the ground and kicks it through the uprights. You're the referee. Is the kick good?

No. It is illegal to shoot at the basket you're defending. The other team should get the ball out-of-bounds at the free throw line extended.

The extra point is good. A legal drop kick must bounce on the ground before it is kicked.

Even if he doesn't make it to the plate, He is credited with the home run and wins the game for his team. If he cannot touch a base because of fan interference, the umpire awards him the base.
